(Cladorhynchus leucocephalus)<\/p>\n

Length:<\/strong>\u00a0 38-41 cm Uncommon at LKCC. A common migrant to Western Australia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Flocks may be seen in summer and autumn on the salt lakes at Rottnest Island and on ocean beaches and inlets. Through winter and spring these nomadic birds move inland onto any newly filled salt lake. They feed almost exclusively on brine shrimps and related crustaceans.<\/p>\n

Banded Stilts are colonial at all times. Whether they are in a group of ten or thousands, they feed together, nest together and fly in compact flocks. No nest is built; the eggs are laid in a small depression on soft ground. Eggs: 3 to 4; deep fawn to white with brown spots.<\/p>\n
