WA Golf Foundation Levy

The WA/NT PGA in conjunction with Golf WA have recently announced the establishment of the WA Golf Foundation (WAGF). The main purpose of the WAGF is to bring more people in to the game of golf, that is, generate more participation in the game. Their strategies to achieve this are varied but will include a focus on various groups including juniors and women, the promotion of golf as a healthy sport which is adding value to the community as well as offering coaching programs, identifying talent and developing the game as a whole.

The WAGF will be managed by Trustees who represent both parties and further details are available on request. The financial goals of the WAGF include raising $1M over the next two years through a number of different ways. Our Club has been approached by Golf WA and a request has been made for Lake Karrinyup, together with all private golf clubs throughout the state to support the “Will you chip in” program. The General Committee has agreed to support the concept of the Foundation and has therefore added an additional line item to your 2013 subscriptions account. The amount of $20 (which is not tax deductible) appears as an optional item in the Subscription Charges section of your account. For those members that opt to pay this amount it will be collected by the Club and paid directly to the Foundation. Should you NOT wish to participate in this initiative, please complete the attached form.

There are several other means by which members can make tax deductible contributions to the Foundation. I would recommend visiting the Golf WA website at www.golfwa.org.u or by contacting Golf WA CEO Gary Thomas on 93676 2490 or by email garyt@golfwa.org.au for more details.

As the state’s leading private golf club we have a responsibility to be seen as a leader in this important initiative and because of this we encourage you to consider making a contribution at some level to the Foundation.
