High five for Karrinyup pennant sides at home

A full round of home matches was just what was required to keep the season on track for the Lake Karrinyup sides with all 5 teams recording good wins.

Division 2 hosted Wanneroo for their first rematch of the season and made a vengeance for their away loss, downing the visitors 6-3. Brendan Milburn (2up) and Nick Vogel (2/1) kept their impressive seasons going while Dave Bandy had a strong 4/3 win. John Wallace (2/1), Roger Perrie (1up) and Jules Harris (3/1) all made a welcome return to the winners circle in tight matches. The final away match for the season awaits the team in round 5 with a road trip south to Melville Glades. If the team can secure an away win it will go a long way to securing a place in the final as no other team has won away yet this season.

The Juniors also played Wanneroo and recorded a comprehensive 5-2 win. Ethan Andrews (1up) remains unbeaten at the top of the order with Azer Pehlic and Tip Snowden both recording impressive 6/5 victories. Travis Temm (4/3) and Clayton Herbst (2/1) were the other winners.

The return to an early morning timeslot did not affect the other divisions as they all made the most of their final home game for the year.

Division 5 went so close to a clean sweep of Lakelands with a resounding 6 ½ – ½ victory. Stephen Brooke and Kade Harvey lead the way with 5/4 wins while Chee Mok also had a strong 4/3 win. Ken Hellsten (2/1) Marc Danze (3/1) and Daniel Howe (3/1) also recorded wins with Sam Gill halving his match. A road trip to Chequers awaits the team for round 5 as they continue to fight to keep their finals hopes alive.

Division 7 had a tougher match against their Lakelands opposition but still managed to bring home the chocolates with a tight 4-3 win.  Tim Gattorna and Ben Robertson set the win up with 4/3 victories while John Rogers (3/2) and Peter Taylor (2up) also had wins to ensure the side kept a clean sheet at home for the season. Next on the agenda is an away match to Sun City where a win will put them in a great position with one round to go.

The Division 8 side also ensured they had a 100% home record by accounting for The Vines 5-2 in their match. Steve Temple (2up) was again victorious with Tony O’Shea recording the biggest win of the round with a 6/5 result.  Andrew O’Neil (1up), Stu Phillips (4/2) and Oliver Bradshaw (3/2) were the others to taste success on the day. Round 5 will also see Division 8 head to Sun City hoping to post an away victory.

Round 5 sees all teams hit the road Division 2 and Juniors grabbing their passports to head south and take on Melville Glades, Division 5 head east to take on Cheqeurs while Divisions 7 & 8 head north to Sun City.

Best of luck to all sides.
