2015 MAKK Cup

The 2015 MAKK Cup was hosted over the 27th, 28th and 29th of March at Lake Karrinyup Country Club.

This competition is an event that is played between primarily the committee members of Lake Karrinyup and The Metropolitan, The Australian and Kooyonga Golf Clubs. This year was Lake Karrinyup’s turn to host the reciprocal visitors from interstate and to try and win the trophy on home soil.

Teams of 9 players contest this event with the best 7 stableford scores on each day to count towards the total. The Lake Karrinyup team put their local knowledge to good use over the weekend and compiled a respectable score of 436 points over the 2 days and secured a comfortable win over the Australian Golf Club who finished as the runner up on a score of 419 points.

The members of the visiting clubs were extremely complimentary of the golf course and admired the strong comradery that exists amongst Lake Karrinyup members.  Some of their comments and feedback is listed below:

Dear Damon and Robyn,
Thank you very much for your hospitality over the weekend. Our team had a wonderful time.
Your facilities are spectacular, but it was the wonderful food, wine and service that really made it a special weekend.
Please pass on my appreciation to Matt and Sophie. Their attention to detail was excellent, as was their pleasant nature.

Thanks for the weekend, you and the LKCC team did a fantastic job hosting the event.  The course was in great condition, the food and hospitality was first class and the organisation of the weekend ran so smoothly.
It was great to see the vibrant family atmosphere around the club, you have introduced some excellent initiatives which we can all learn a lot from. 
Please pass on thanks to Sophie, Matt, Robyn, (Bo? Exec Chef), and the rest of the team who all looked after us superbly.  You are really lucky to have such a high quality and committed team.
Well done on your victory, far too consistent for our disappointing outfit.. we have come home to have a good hard look at ourselves!

Congratulations on the successful hosting of the MAKK Cup 2015 and well done to Lake Karrinyup Country Club for winning back the trophy.
The event was very professionally managed and the golf was played in fine spirit. The evening activities were well organized and the food and wine outstanding.

Just a note to express my gratitude and congratulations to you, your staff, Jim, Con, and the rest of the team on what was a wonderful weekend. I really enjoyed the course which I have not previously done battle with and it was clearly the victor. I am not sure what the grass is bordering the fairway but it sure made playing from it difficult. No doubt you guys have worked out the solution. Thanks for your efforts and to all of the LKCC staff and Board members for a wonderful weekend.
We were thoroughly spoiled with the food, beverages and the wonderful company of old and new friends from the participating clubs.
The golf course was terrific. My powers of recovery are not what they used to be but it did not hinder my enjoyment of the whole visit.

These types of events provide a great opportunity for the club to build strong reciprocal relationships with these highly regarded golf clubs. These relationships allow our members the ability to play some of the best golf clubs in the country whilst traveling interstate.
