The Finals for the 2015 Club Championships were held on Sunday the 25th of October. There were some fantastic match ups across all grades which provided some stimulating golf throughout the day.
This year the Championship match was to be contested between 2 up and coming players in the club. Young 20 year old Ethan Andrews and current Junior Champion Alex Allcock were both in excellent form leading into the final and this was well and truly displayed throughout their highly competitive match. Both players played some solid golf throughout the morning and could only be separated when Ethan won the 18th hole to take a 1 up lead into lunch. It was young Alex Allcock who came out firing after lunch making birdies at holes 1, 3, 4 and 5 to build a comfortable lead. Whilst Ethan battled back throughout the back 9 the lead developed early in the second 18 holes proved insurmountable with Alex eventually tapping in to win the Championship match 5 & 4.
In the Championship Plate match Nigel Goodall’s experience won out against pennant player Sam Gill in a match which saw some solid play from both players. The club comradery and sportsmanship was well and truly displayed throughout the championships with all matches being played in a great spirit.
