After a five hour journey to drive around the South West bush fires Georgia started her summer campaign at the Bunbury Golf Club and returned a score of 78 to win best net and second gross. She then went on to Capel, with the smoky conditions and the very strange site of hundreds of scorched eucalyptus leaves falling, Georgia shot 82 on Saturday and 79 on Sunday. This gave Georgia the 36 hole win at Capel and the combined 54 hole event. To top off the weekend Georgia was also in the team that won the team event prize.
The juniors’ parents went to great effort to get the players to these events with road closures due to the bush fires. Only two juniors did not make the 5 hour detour and some were leaving Perth at 2am to make their morning tee time on Saturday morning at Capel.
Georgia was not quite finished with her successful start to 2016, continuing her great form at WA Golf Club Junior Cup, winning with a score of 77 (four over par) .Georgia who has recently turned 12 years old has now reached a single figure handicap of GA 7.8.
Georgia said after the event at the WA Club that she had had great fun and was very proud to represent the Lake Karrinyup Country Club in all she does on and off the Golf course.
“At only 12 years old, Georgia has an amazing work ethic. However, despite her successes and relentless hard work, she is a very quiet, gentle and modest girl. She is also a popular and experienced member of our Girls Pennants squad and is keen to help the newer members of the team. “ Marnie Brown.
