Another highly successful Legacy Day Golf event was held on Sunday 7th May with the drawing of the annual Raffle taking place also.
136 members and their guests enjoyed an afternoon of golf with a shotgun start at 12.30pm, playing the new format of a mixed 4BBB Stableford competition. Warm weather and blue skies welcomed the group as did the popular refreshments cart doing the rounds for the afternoon. It was a tight finish in the end with 3 couples on 45 points, the eventual winners with 25 points on the back nine being Dr John Rigg and Mrs Jill Larritt who were presented with the perpetual Legacy Day Trophy by Captain John Wallace and General Committee member Mrs Maxine Waller.
Runners-up (on a c/b) were Geoff & Dawn Anderson with Mark & Annie Caldwell also on a good score of 45 points. A sit-down cocktail style party & presentations took place in the main bar with 145 people attending, including some guests from Perth Legacy. President John Hanly welcomed the crowd and introduced Mr John Burridge, immediate past President and current Board member of Perth Legacy, who gave an insight into the wonderful work that Legacy does in our community and country.
Perth Legacy Board member Mr Peter Gleeson drew the raffle with the assistance of Maxine Waller &Robyn Twentyman, announcing the lucky 19 prize-getters (see listed below). Our very own James Paxton took to the lectern to auction off the items kindly donated by Perth Legacy – a Collins Class Submarine Classified Access Tour selling for $700 and a Hawk 127 Jet Simulator ride for 2 people (2 x 1hr rides) reaching a final bid of $1,500. The Governor’s carpark raised a lot of interest and eventually sold for $2,650.
All in all, a record of $24,850 was raised from the sale of 2,000 raffle tickets and the auction items, all being donated directly to Perth Legacy.
