On Sunday 5th November 2017, 64 members enjoyed the 70th Club Breakfast. This event was created 70 years ago by members Mr Tom Ahern (of the Ahern’s Department Store) & Mr Roy Paxton (Owner & proprietor of the Esplanade Hotel). This relaxed and fun event was designed to lighten the mood during the tough post war times.
Everyone enjoyed a delicious breakfast and the famous “Paxton Punch” (a milky, quite alcoholic brew that is helpful in relaxing golfers) which was folllowed by a mixed medley ambrose event played in teams of 4 on the main course consisting of 9 holes on the main course.
The eventual winners on the day were Lucille Palandri, Mary Townsend and Shirene & James Paxton. A great day was had by all and everyone is already looking forward to the 71st Club Breakfast in 2018.
