Australian Amateur Championships Update

Never before has there been an Australian Amateur Championship winner from Japan, but now we have two.

The time-honoured titles, presented by Swinging Skirts, were whisked to the Land of the Rising Sun by firstly Suzuka Yamaguchi with an awe-inspiring performance in a 6&5 win over the highly fancied Ayean Cho.

And less than an hour later, another impressive performance culminated in victory for Keita Nakajima in the men’s division, bowling over the nominal favourite David Micheluzzi 4&3.

Yamaguchi was, remarkably, 12 under par through the final’s 31 holes, rolling in two eagles and 10 birdies in a display belying her tender 17 years.  Suzuka and Keita were presented with their trophies in the club’s Main Bar on Sunday 21st January.  Congratulations to them both and to our members from LKCC who took part.  For more information including final scores, please click on this link to visit the Golf Australia website.

We are excited to advise that our very own Joe Owen won his match on the 19th hole today (18th Feb) against Gian-Marco Petrozzi from England. Joe tees off at 8:10am tomorrow (Friday 19th Feb) against Hayden Gulliver from NSW.

Simon Liddell played an extremely tight match with not a single bogey between himself and Tom Parker from New Zealand. The match came down to a putt on the 21st hole which unfortunately fell in Tom Parker’s favour. Commiserations to Simon but congratulations on qualifying for matchplay.

Following the golf it’s business as usual here from 4pm onwards with the delightful Bronte entertaining us with her lovely vocals and acoustics, delicious wood fired pizzas, cold beer & refreshments.  Why not bring along some friends and enjoy the relaxing surroundings of our courtyard.

We look forward to seeing you at the club on Friday!
