2018 Karrinyup Cup & Club Dinner

The Men’s Karrinyup Cup and Club Dinner took place on Saturday 4th August.  The morning started with a mini tornado coming through the course at 6am, causing devastation to trees & fences and headaches for the groundsmen, who were already out on the course preparing for the day.  Despite the dreadful weather, 212 gentlemen braved the conditions and took part in the event with the eventual very popular winner being Steve Palframan with a fantastic score of 63 nett, one shot clear of Stuart Phillips on Nett 64. Steve also collected the A Grade Monthly Medal Mug, Hamish McGlashan the B Grade Medal with Nett 67 and Stuart Phillips the C Grade.

The Club Dinner followed on from the golf, with 160 men dressed for the occasion.   Members commenced in the Bistro for post-golf drinks and canapes and then followed the Piper around the front of the clubhouse and into the Dining Room where the formalities commenced.  Captain John Wallace called on Vice President Graeme Pepper to say Grace and dinner commenced. The loyal Toast being performed by Vice Captain Ralph Gibson.   Executive Chef Dean and his wonderful team prepared a delicious robust meal that was enjoyed by all, along with some fine wines and some nips from the Whiskey Bar.

President Con Barron welcomed the crowd and proposed the Toast to Karrinyup.  Past President’s in attendance were welcomed those members who have reached their 50 years of service in 2018, presented with a 50 year tie.  Present were Graeme Chinnery, Simon Farrell and Jock Morrison.  Unable to attend their 50 year presentation on this occasion were Past Presidents Phil Codde and Ross Walker, Richard Clark, Don Watts and Millar Forbes.

This was another great night for the male members of the club, sharing many stories and camaraderie amongst each other.  Thank you to the staff involved who helped make this another successful event.
