Another highly successful, sell-out Melbourne Cup was held at the Club on the 6th November. Almost 240 members and their guests enjoyed champagne and canapés on arrival in the “birdcage” located in the courtyard. The ladies all looked very glamourous and the gents suited up for the occasion. Cup sweeps were selling like hot cakes prior to the race that stops a nation. Once the race was over, happy punters collected their winnings and were then welcomed by President Con Barron the dining room for a delicious 3 course meal prepared by Chef Dean and his team.
Following the lunch, the fashions on the field were judged and there were some very worthy winners who received some great prizes for the Best Hat/Fascinator, Best Tie, Best Dressed Male, Best Dressed Female and Ms Melbourne Cup Congratulations to all who took home a prize and everyone present is to be commended on their outfits and glamorous “racing attire”.
Thanks to Dean and his team in the kitchen, Romana, Jess, Darry and their team in Food & Beverage, Sally Meadows for the lovely floral decorations in the courtyard & Dining Room, Damon and the Admin team, Ben and Rod in Maintenance for their set-up and of course to all the members who supported this great day once again, bringing along their guests.
