Tuesday 3rd November saw the courtyard and dining room come alive with frocks, heels, fascinators and plenty of suits! 190 members & guests attended the luncheon which commenced with bubbles and canapes in the courtyard “birdcage”. Once the race was run and all of the lucky punters collected their winnings from the sweeps, the dining room was at capacity, full of colour, laughter and plenty of delicious food.
President, Graeme Pepper, ably assisted by his wife Diane, presented the prizes on the day. Best Dressed Female went to Kerry Jackson (guest of Jo Ban’s), Best Dressed Male went to James Pearson (guest of the Kirkhams), Best Hat/Fascinator went to new member Nicole McMahon, the Best Tie/Bow Tie went to multiple Cup Day winner of this prize, Andrew van der Meer and this year we had two “Stand Out” awards. These went to Cameron & Naoko Bolton and Sophia Rossow. Todd Gault and Maryanne Larsen were the “lucky door prize” recipients of the Leeuwin Estate Wine Packs.
A big thank you to Romana and her hard working team for their tireless work leading up to and during the day, the staff who assisted with selling the sweeps and the judging of prizes, Jonny and his team in the kitchen for preparing such a lovely 3 course meal and of course, and hard-working Maintenance chaps, Ben & Rod, Maryanne Larsen and Sally Meadows for room decorations, and a big thank you to all the members and their guests who came along on the day. It was a very different Melbourne Cup this year, but possibly one of the best. People are already talking about booking tables for next year’s Cup Day!
