The Men’s Club Championship Finals took place on Sunday 28th August.
There was a big crowd to watch the Club Championship final between the 2020 Club Champion and top seed Joseph Owen and Simon Liddell, who qualified as the second seed.
To reach the final, Simon defeated Tej Mehta 6&5 in the Quarter Finals, followed by a 2&1 win against Cameron Bolton. Meanwhile, Joseph Owen defeated Nicholas Curnow (2&1) and Travis Temm (4&3).
Simon took the ascendency to lead 4up after the first 17 holes, before Joe fought back to win the next five out of seven holes to take a 1 hole lead after the 24th. It was a closely fought contest between the two, so much so that it was All Square after 36 holes.
Congratulations to our 2021 Club Champion, Simon Liddell, who defeated Joseph Owen on the 37th Hole. Both should be proud of their efforts and it was a high quality and entertaining final to watch for the large contingent of members who were at the club.
In the Championship Plate, Tony King defeated Fabio Trichilo 6&5. Meanwhile in the Seniors Championship, Gary Swann beat John Wallace 1up.
Congratulations to all winners and a big thank you to all members who took part in this year’s Club Championships.
