No amount of rain could stop 190 members and their guests turning up to Lake Karrinyup’s Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday 4th November. In the courtyard and dining room, there was a sea of frocks, fascinators, hats, heels and some very sharp suits, all there to watch Verry Elleegant take the trophy in the race that stops the nation.
President, Graeme Pepper, was there to present prizes on the day along with our Acting General Manager, Craig Ridge – MC for the day who did a fantastic job – well done Craig . The amazing hampers (thanks to the assistance of Lyn McKweon) were presented as follows:
- Best dressed female went to Jo Ban.
- Best dressed male went to Rob Colclough.
- Best hat went to Kaye Duame, a guest of Margot De Burgh.
- Best tie went to Tristian Kirkham.
- Best fascinator went to Yolande Dick.
- Best couple went to Les and Kathy McCarthy.
- The best dressed table went to table 2, led by the Birthday girl Debbie Silbert.
- The lucky door prize winner was Andrea Colthart.
A massive thank you to our Director of House, David and all of his hardworking team, the atmosphere was electric and the service was impeccable. To Jonny and his staff, thank you for the incredible food, we have heard nothing but great reports. To Robyn and her wonderful admin team, thank you for all your hard work in the lead up to and on the day, including selling the sweeps and judging of the best dressed. To our hard working maintenance team of Ben and Rod, who took the couch cushions on and off around 5 times when the rain came and went, thank you for all your help.
Our final thanks go to our members and guests who came along on the day to support this wonderful event. These type of days are what all the staff at LKCC thrive on … it is so great to see the weeks of planning come to fruition like this. Just like us, we are sure you are all already looking forward to the first Tuesday of November in 2022 to do it all again!
