Congratulations to this year’s Monte Bello Trophy Winner, Mr Bill Ongley. Bill was one of 236 members who played in the 2021 Monte Bello Trophy on Saturday 18th December. Captain Phil Grice, had an astonishing 6up in the morning, however Bill came out in the afternoon to also have a fabulous round, beating the Captain on a countback.
Best Gross went to Ryan Gault with 1up and the nearest to the pin winners on the day were John Wallace (5th), Wayne Krahner (8th), Brian Marchant (12th) and Tej Mehta (17th).
And to top things off, John Wallace managed a hole in one on the 12th hole – congratulations on your 8th Hole In One John. What an amazing achievement!!
The history of the Monte Bello Trophy is rather interesting. In 1956, the Royal Air Force were in Western Australia for the atomic testing at the Monte Bello Islands. The Committee of the time granted them honorary membership and in appreciation of this, they donated the Monte Bello Trophy, pictured here with Bill.
