UPDATE – 8TH FEBRUARY 2022
Firstly I want to thank almost 1,000 members who have had their Vaccination status verified by staff so that they may continue to utilise our facilities under the existing government Directions. Your cooperation through this process is greatly appreciated by all staff. This number reflects a great majority of our playing membership, so the bulk of this verification process is now complete. For those Members who have not yet visited the Club but are vaccinated, you will obviously need to demonstrate proof of vaccination upon arrival when you’re next at the Club. To that end, and to make monitoring for staff a little easier, we are making adjustments to our security protocols around golf bookings and entrance through the gates.
From Monday 14th February, only those Members who have had their vaccination verified will have access to book golf online and use their fobs to open the gates. All other Members will need to ring the Golf Shop to book (and subsequently show POV upon arrival) and press the intercom at the gates announcing yourself. Once your vaccination status has been verified, your fob will be reactivated and you will be able to book golf online again. This is a small but important step to help staff manage our obligations under the Directions but also assists the Members experience behind the blue gates, visa vi being requested Proof of Vaccination at service points on a regular basis.
Yesterday, the government announced changes to close contacts and isolation protocols. We ask that Members are familiar with these protocols in the instance you become COVID positive or become a Close Contact under the new guidelines (click here to view the guidelines). Should a member test positive to COVID and you have been at the Club during your infectious period, we request you report this to the Club as soon as possible. These changes announced yesterday are welcome news as we look to manage the Club with COVID in the community. Our priority is to ensure continuity of service and whilst it is inevitable that Members and staff will contract COVID at some point in time, we have put in place various protocols that will assist in minimising the potential disruption. This includes the acquisition of Rapid Antigen Tests for staff should the need to test arise, ensuring we minimise occurrences where under the close contact definition we could be compromised, and the hygiene protocols we are all now so familiar with.
A reminder also that Members are responsible for their guests and the need for those guests to show Proof of Vaccination at the office, Golf Shop or entry to the Grill upon arrival. If you and/or your guests are not registered on any booking sheets (golf, grill or social bookings) ie. visiting the pool, tennis courts or courtyard/bar, please ensure you and your guests register your attendance with SafeWA via the club’s QR code at all times.
We thank you for your continued cooperation in these ever changing times. Be safe and well.
Kind regards,
Gavin Burt – General Manager.
UPDATE – 30TH JANUARY 2022 – VACCINATION CERTIFICATES OR VALID EXEMPTIONS COMPULSORY FROM MONDAY 31/01/22
As previously notified, due to the nature of our liquor licence and operating conditions under which Lake Karrinyup Country Club is bound, it is the requirement of WA Health that all patrons provide proof of vaccination from tomorrow (12.01am Monday, 31st January, 2022) You will be required to demonstrate proof of vaccination prior to play or entering the Clubhouse.
Whilst the vast majority of members have already registered, we request that those who have been vaccinated or have a valid medical exemption and have yet to register, please do so by immediately reporting to the Office (M-F 9am-5pm) or Pro shop (6am-6pm) on arrival so that we can verify your vaccination status. If after hours, please see a senior staff member at the entrance to the Grill or Members Lounge. We will sight your Certificate of Immunisation (one time only) or medical exemption and log it within your MiClub profile. Note, no physical copy will be kept. Please be assured your privacy will be protected and vaccination status will be visible to management only.
For those unvaccinated who currently do not hold a valid medical exemption and therefore cannot enter the premises effective tomorrow, the General Committee wish to advise the following. The General Committee has the authority to suspend or waive fees of Members as per Clause 6.8 of the Constitution. Given the restrictions to Members from the 31st January, 2022 as directed by the Proof of Vaccination Directions of 26 January, 2022 of the Emergency Management Act (WA) 2005, affected members may apply to the General Committee for a suspension of fees effective January 31, 2022. Given the changing environment and continual evolution of government directives this suspension of fees will be for an initial period of three (3) months at which time the General Committee will review its position given the new information that will be at hand. Those Members granted a waiver of fees will have them suspended effective January 31, 2022 and subscriptions already paid will be adjusted pro-rata and remain as a credit on the Members account, until such time as they recommence their category of membership. Please direct applications c/o The General Manager – LKCC, Gavin Burt.
These continue to be extraordinary times which is testing our resilience and patience. Unfortunately, some of our staff have experienced some unpleasant situations recently with regards to compliance, masks, vaccination certificates and other instances. Please be tolerant of others and patient during these uncertain times. Staff are already working under difficult conditions, and we are only complying with legislation and enforcing the Government directives imposed upon us. Lake Karrinyup’s membership is founded on the values of Respect and a care for others and now more than ever it’s important we live by these.
Please stay safe and well.
Regards,
Gavin Burt
General Manager.

UPDATE – 11TH JANUARY 2022
Whilst COVID in the community appears to be under control, there is no doubting the State government is gearing up its Transition Plan for borders to open up on the 5th of February, 2022.
Today, the Western Australian Government launched Service WA. The app allows people to show proof of vaccination, check in with SafeWA, and access to the G2G pass for interstate travel, all in one place.
As you are aware, last week the State Government announced the requirement of Proof of Vaccination to enter venues as stated below:
Proof of vaccination is required to enter the following venues:
- Nightclubs
- Music events (above 500 people) and specified high risk events
- Pubs, taverns, hotels (hospitality):
- With a capacity of greater than 500 patrons; or
- With a licence that allows them to operate after midnight
- A place operating under a special facility license:
- With a capacity of greater than 500 patrons; or
- With a licence that allows them to operate after midnight
- A place operating under an occasional liquor licence (licensed for 250 or more patrons)The gaming floor of the Perth Crown Casino.
With this directive, many Clubs were caught out due to the fact they have a Special Facility Licence that either has a capacity of greater than 500 patrons and or conditions which allows them to operate after midnight. Whilst the intention of this directive with respect to Special Facility Licenses was aimed towards nightclubs, it has inadvertently captured a number of Golf Clubs including The Vines, Joondalup, Mount Lawley Golf Club and Cottesloe Golf Club. To that end, proof of vaccination became mandatory at those Clubs last week.
Yesterday, the Premier made it clear that Proof of Vaccination is likely to be extended into other venues in the coming days. I fully anticipate that Lake Karrinyup CC will be included in such directives. Preparing yourself with the Service WA app may be prudent given timeframes on such directives are usually very short. Further information on how the Club will handle this should the need arise will be sent to Members as soon as required.
Kind regards,
Gavin Burt – General Manager.
