Chalice Pairs – Men’s Opening Day

This event was first held in 1984 – the winners being Paul Annand and John Gillard.  The name is taken from the perpetual trophy – two silver goblets or chalices.  This year’s major men’s event took place on Saturday, 19th March.  262 male members played the 4BBB Par format on the main course and 44 members played in the North Course Opening Day.

Cam Gillard and Stephen Hauville were very popular winners of this prestige event, winning by one stroke with a score of 11up.  Runners up in a 3-way tie were Brendan Cole/Stephen Brooke, Gary Thomson/Elliot Mitchell and Dennis Murray/Peter Rowles on 10up.

North Course Men’s Opening Day, 44 members took part in this event and the winners with a great score of 12up were John Lake and Richard Gill.

A wonderful day full of camaraderie, tradition and fellowship was enjoyed by a record 306 men.  Well done to everyone who took part in this major men’s event!
