Silverhare 70’s Revival night

Over 300 members and their guests came along to the much anticipated “Silverhare 70’s Revival Night” at the Club on Friday 14th April and what a sensational night it was!!!

The event was a huge success – James and his band didn’t disappoint, playing some classic 70’s songs all night and even a cameo appearance from John and Jan Marris’ Granddaughter, Angelina Curtis who is coming off an incredible run on Australian Idol, finishing 8th out of 8,000 auditions.

The night was all 70’s with great performances of Lou Reed and The Beatles by our British members Dave Butler and Phil Keenan. Silverhare also took on the big band sounds of ELO, Earth Wind & Fire, Pink Floyd and Super Tramp to name but a few. Angelina Curtis wowed the audience with her solo of “The Only Exception and Never Tear Us Apart”. She continued to join the band on stage.

Great father and sons acts with Ralph Gibson on sax and his son Alexander on guitar trading blows on The Sultans of Swing. Also special thanks to the bass duo Glenn Davies and his son Harry smashing out Roadhouse Blues.

Tina Turner aka Anna Craigie sang a fabulous version of Nut Bush City Limits whilst Haydn Chrystal and Verity Paxton had the whole dance floor in full boot scooting mode.

The night continued to build with a wonderful rendition of Play that Funky Music and All Right Now performed by keyboardist Don Nichols.

The band played for 3 hours and the crowd spent most of that time dancing!  The food was plentiful and perfect for the live band/pub atmosphere in the Bar.  There were plenty of refreshments and our ever smiling Food & Beverage Staff were kept busy behind the bar.

A big thank you to James Paxton and his band consisting of Club Members, Ralph Gibson, Dave Butler, Phillip Keenan, Haydn Chrystal, Jeff Wright, Rob Kay, James Paxton plus Alex Gibson, Don Nichols, Glenn and Harry Davies, Anna Craigie and Verity Weaire, what a great team, so very entertaining.  And a big thank you to the entire Food & Beverage team for their hard work and efforts leading up to and during the night.  The whole team worked like clockwork and the service was brilliant.

We can’t wait to bring you the next big social event at the Club. If you have any more photos please send them through to reception@lkcc.com.au
