LKCC Women’s Annual Charity Day – Thursday, 13th June 2024

The 6am start for the army of approximately 75 strong volunteers was cold and dark but blossomed into a lovely sunny day, which really had a positive impact on everyone!

The courtyard was transformed into a vibrant marketplace with the many stalls laden with craft, cakes, jams, raffles, pre-loved golf clothes, wine jewellery and lucky dips.  Most stalls were a complete sell out!

Golfer and later bridge players arrived early to peruse the stalls and then either headed out to play in great conditions on both courses, or into the bar area for bridge.  A magnificent morning tea, all home made by our members was enjoyed by all players plus an additional 104 people came for morning tea alone – possibly drawn by the good weather!

A lovely lunch was served with presentations and raffle draws conducted – lots of lucky people left with great prizes and raffle gifts.

The day was a great success raising over $65,000 to be divided equally between our chosen children’s charities – Parkerville Children and Youth and Spectrum Space.  The final figure will be announced in the next few weeks when all reconciliation has been completed.

Many thanks to all LKCC members who contributed in any way to make this event so successful – our talented female members who cook, sew, knit and crochet to supply the stalls and morning tea, all members who have donated items to raffle or sell and volunteers on the day on the course, clubhouse and car park.  Thanks also to all LKCC staff who work tirelessly to support this busy and hectic day.

Hole sponsorship by businesses or personal donation has become a very large part of this fundraising effort so many thanks to all who have contributed in this way.

All in all, a massive effort by everyone involved with a very successful and pleasing outcome!

We were fortunate to be invited to, and were able to attend, the latest graduation ceremony for the young people participating in the Education, Employment and Training (EET) program at Parkerville that the funds we raise go some way to support.  They presented us with a hand-made card expressing thanks for all the financial support we have been able to provide over many years.
