2024 Ho-Ho-Holiday Fun at LKCC’s Annual Children’s Christmas Party

On Sunday, 8th December 2024, we welcomed 240 children along with 325 parents and grandparents to the Annual LKCC Children’s Christmas Party, our Club’s largest annual event.

The day was filled with joy and excitement, thanks to our amazing member volunteers and staff. Children were treated to a fantastic array of entertainment, including strongman strength test, balloon artists and a caricaturist who captured smiles, an animal farm for some furry fun, and thrilling train rides around the Clubhouse. They enjoyed pony rides, face painting, a bouncy castle, and a ball pit. Our external contractors truly went above and beyond to create a magical atmosphere.

The Club also organised a variety of engaging activities, from sand craft and Christmas tattoos to bubbles and a bean bag toss! We also had a cozy reading corner, delightful pavement art, and wiggle bikes. And let’s not forget the incredible 9-hole mini golf course, featuring whimsical sharks and clowns, created by our talented grounds staff!

A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who helped make this day special. Our stall volunteers —who happen to be the grandchildren of our members—deserve special mention, especially Elise and Isla (Dee and Eric Atkinson), Klaudia (Simon Youlton), Amalyn (Jeff Skinner), and our wonderful photographer, Ashleigh Cartwright, along with staff children – Caelan (Tanya) and Emma (Christian). Our cheerful welcome elves, Lena Kaptein, Sandra King, and Sharon Bristow greeted everyone with warmth and kindness.

We were also lucky to have Ralph Gibson, Steve Maxwell, John Pember, and Mark Adams cooking up a storm with the sausage sizzle providing delicious hotdogs. Special thanks to Grant Bird for providing the amazing staging for Santa and Mrs. Claus, and to Ralph Gibson and Mark Adams for the monumental task of calling forward around 240 excited children to receive gifts from our special guests, which is no small feat!

As always, our staff worked tirelessly to do the thousand and one things that needed to be done to bring everything together on the day. Lake Karrinyup is incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated and capable team and our thanks go to our Functions, House and Grounds staff who did such a great job, again.

And finally, of course, a huge shoutout to our incredible special guests: Santa and Mrs. Claus, along with Mark Giggins, Alison Leahy, and their Elf Chauffeur, Mark Leahy. You made our day!

On Monday, 9th December 2024, donations were delivered to Passages, where staff expressed their heartfelt gratitude. This youth engagement hub provides a safe space for some of the most marginalised and at-risk young people in Perth. Each year, our LKCC members show their generosity with increasingly larger bags of goodies. Thank you so much for your kindness!

It was a wonderful day for everyone involved, and planning has already begun for next year.
