To give you some history of this premiere event, in 1928, Daisy Savage was invited by Keith Barker, the Lake Karrinyup Country Club Captain, to become a Foundation Member of the Club. She was elected the first Lady Captain at LKCC in 1930. After WWII, when the Club was returned to the members, Daisy worked very hard on the social side to make the Club popular once again. In 1955, she handed down her Foundation Membership to her eldest daughter, Audrey James who was a member of LKCC until her death at the age of 100 in December 2013. Daisy’s granddaughter, Valerie Lapinski is an esteemed member of LKCC and has proudly presented her grandmother’s trophy since 2014.
This year, Valerie was once again proud to present our winners of this major event. 144 Female Members played in the fourball event on the main course, the outright winners on a fantastic score of 50 points were Lyn Meadows and Elizabeth Black.
56 Female Members played 18 holes on the North Course. Arlene Hearson and Myra Cooperwhite were very proud to accept their trophy from Valerie, with a fantastic score of 46 points.
This year saw a shake up to proceedings, with inclement weather derailing the fixtured Opening Day, however over 190 very well-dressed Female Members had a delightful meal following the scheduled presentations in the main bar. The dining room was full of delicious food, fine wine and lots of laughter.
It was great to see such a large number rebook to fight it out for the Daisy Savage Bowls 2 weeks afterwards.
