LKCC Member, Tim Gattorna, with John Gattorna have won the International Father & Son Tournament run by The Experience St Andrews, on 13th to 16th April, 2025. The pair won the event for the second time after hoisting the trophy back in 2023.
There were 21 father/son teams competing in the tournament from all over the world, including USA, Canada, South Africa, Ireland & Australia. The 4BBB Stableford format saw the teams compete on the New Course at St Andrews, Carnoustie, Kingsbarns and the Old Course at St Andrews.
John reported that the first three rounds were played in relatively dry conditions and unusually warm temperatures (15-17◦C). However, on the last day at the Old Course, the weather changed to horrendous conditions with 0◦C temperature, 60mph winds off the North Sea and rain coming in sideways. His caddy stated that if that had been the Open, play would have been suspended!
Despite the brutal conditions, the players pressed on and it was Team Gattorna coming out on top with the best 4BBB Stableford score after four rounds.
Team Gattorna won several prizes, but the main carrot was tickets to Days 3 and 4 of the US Masters Tournament in 2026.
Congratulations once again John & Tim!
