Karrinyup Bowl

The 2015 Karrinyup bowl was held on Sunday the 23rd of august with a field of 90 players from Golf Club’s across the state teeing it up in the 36 hole Paxton Average Ranking event. This year’s event attracted a very strong field with a number of state team representatives competing in the event.

Early breezy conditions as well as the difficult course set up made for tough scoring in the morning round with the best round of the morning being posted by young gun Kieran Day from Cottesloe Golf Club in the form of a 73. The afternoon round produced a number of impressive rounds including 2 rounds being posted under par (the only 2 for the event) matching scores of 70 (2 under) were posted by Western Australian Golf Club’s Haydn Barron as well as first round leader Kieran Day.

Kieran’s round of 70 was enough to hold off Haydn Barron to win the 2015 Karrinyup Bowl by 3 shots. The leading Lake Karrinyup members were 2014 Club Championship finalists Nick Curnow and Simon Liddell who tied for 4th on 150.

A great deal of thanks goes to the volunteers on the day including Con Barron, David Anderson, John Brennan and Jules Harris who helped out with starting, rules queries and marshalling throughout the day.
