In 2015 Golf WA established a Club Health Advisory Panel with the view to looking at ways to assist golf clubs to become more sustainable. Much of this energy has been focused in regional areas with several metropolitan clubs being invited to “buddy up” with a particular region.

In late 2016 Lake Karrinyup was in the Geraldton area (from Dongara to Kalbarri) and more recently in June 2018 Advisory Panel member Geoff Anderson, and our own General Manager Damon Lonnie visited several clubs in this region. The visit was enlightening for both with a better understanding of some of the issues and challenges being faced by golf clubs in the country including the decline in membership numbers and related financial issues. Our club has offered assistance to these regional clubs by way of advice, policy and plan development and by creating a longer term connection between our respective committees. In the future we look forward to further enhancing these relationships and offering support where we can.

We hope that you can join us by supporting our “Buddy Clubs” in the Murchison District – they would be delighted to see you.
