2015 Lake Cup Report

The second round of the 2015 Lake Cup was contested today with many players looking to improve on their first round score and to try in order to work their way up their respective grades leaderboard.

As the temperature heated up throughout the day so did the scores. A number of remarkable rounds were turned in by members throughout the day. The best of these was posted by Ryan Epstein who fired a second round of 65 to complement his first round of 74.

Coming in in one of the last groups of the day was late bolter Heath Gillard. Heath played some solid golf throughout the afternoon to post a second round of nett 66, this remarkable round along with his opening round of 70 was enough to claim the 2015 Lake Cup on a sensational score of 136. A fantastic effort.

The top 8 qualifying positions for the 2015 Club Championships were up for grabs and there were a host of players who were in the frame. This year’s cut off for the Club championships came in at a very impressive 150.

Pennant player Nick Curnow followed up his first round score of 70 (2 under)with a dazzling round of 68 (4 under) which saw him take out the honour of number 1 qualifier with a 6 under par total of 138.

Greg Lott posted one of the rounds of the day and signed for a 1 under par round of 71. This saw him rocket up the leaderboard and safely into the top 8 for this year’s championships. It was also enough to also claim the Gross section of the Senior Championship. Simon Bennison claimed the Senior Nett Championship on the back of his impressive first round of 67.

In the Junior Championship, young up and comer Alex Allcock showed poise beyond his years to post rounds of 74 and 73 which was enough to be crowned Junior Champion for 2015. Alex will now mix it up with the big guns in this year’s Championship bracket.
