The club Handicap and Championship Foursomes was played on Sunday the 8th of November. This year’s event had 36 pairs competing over 36 holes of alternate shot golf.
The day began with the traditional Breakfast where players were treated to a hot and cold buffet breakfast (including the traditional kippers, kidneys and goon juice) which is an important aspect of a long 36 hole day.
After a good morning round (for some) a buffet luncheon was enjoyed in the main bar and the golfers eagerly headed out for their afternoon round, keen to better their morning score.
At the end of the day, the winners of the Championship were Peter Robinson and John Wallace with the runners up being Jon Clancy and Scott Langford. Tibor von Karlowitz and John Jordon were the nett handicap winning pair and the young guns Matt Allen & James Donnelly were the net runners-up. Best round 1 went to Greg Hortle and Oliver Bradshaw with Rob Gavin and Geoff Piper taking out the best round 2.
Overall participants seemed to enjoy the challenges of what foursomes golf presents and it is encouraging to see that the event continues to be well supported by the membership base. It was pleasing to see some new young members taking part also.
