Sunday the 25th September saw 102 members play in the Jubilee Mixed Foursomes for the Blairgowrie Trophy. The Social Committee joined in this year to put some life into this event and that was surely the case. The field was almost double that of last year and there was over 110 for the luncheon post-golf so it was a very pleasing result.
With a scottish bagpiper, piping the groups to their tees on arrival, the Blairgowrie theme started the morning complete with a bag of butterscotch lollies per group. The eventual gross winners for the morning were Greg & Cath Witherow with 81 points and the nett winners were Peter & Sue Law with a score of 66.5. Nearest the pins were won by John Allcock on the 5th, Lesley Meaney on the 8th, Sue Law on the 12th and Chris Carey on the 17th. A delightful Scottish themed luncheon welcomed members in the dining room complete with the live strawberry plants in the centre of the tables. Members enjoyed a fabulous 3 course luncheon prepared by chef Dean and his team after which time another highlight of the day took place … the welly throwing competition!
This took place out on the practice green creating a lot of entertainment with Craig Wynne taking out the winning prize. A great time was had by all and a big thank you must go to Tarn Hede and Jodie Benney from the Social Committee, chef Dean and his staff, Romana & Jess along with their f&b team and Craig and the admin team.
It was great to see so many members enjoying this event once again.
