President John Hanly welcomed 50 senior male members to the Club’s Main Bar on Wednesday 5th October. The main purpose of this annual event is to get together those long-standing members who may not be able to play golf anymore or visit the Club on a regular basis. In saying that, there were still a few over 75’s present who play at least twice a week on the main course and even one 90 year old who plays twice a week on the North Course – Mr Paul Latham.
Past Presidents Albert Tognolini and Ross Walker were in the crowd, along with representatives of our General Committee – Vice President Con Barron, Captain David Anderson, Vice Captain Ralph Gibson, Committeeman Graeme Pepper and Committeewoman Maxine Waller, along with the General Manager Damon Lonnie.
Gus Wainwright was awarded his 50 years of service tie on the day which was a fabulous milestone as well. Some interesting statistics presented by the President was that the average age of those present in the room was 80 years of age with a combined tally of 3,933 years, and the average term of membership of those present was 42 years with a combined membership tally of 2052 !!
A lovely morning was had by all over coffee & cakes with a lot of memories and stories being spoken about.
