SUMMER Champagne Golf took place on Sunday 15 January on the North Course. This is one of 3 Social Committee Golf events held during the year.. A fun event in teams of 6, it’s just right for inviting friends & family (beginners and “not so” beginners with no handicap required).
It began with a charming Breakfast of Mini Brioche Bacon Rolls…Mini Ham and Cheese Croissants, Eggs Benedict, fruit Kebabs and potted yoghurt …And FRENCH Champagne !! Teams fueled themselves up in a very elegant way with poolside with white clothed tables. Team attire featured yet again … with Peter Law and his ladies styled it seems by Chanel for 2017, their 11th year!!! This inspired other teams to get their act together for future fun events.
As we set off for our shotgun start at 10.15am a gentle breeze joined us – it was a lovely morning of fun golf & blue skies, helped along by the drinks cart visiting teams to quench their thirst It was said to be “a 2 Picollo round” for the Champagne golfers.
A NEW challenging novelty event was enjoyed on this day …. putting this time …. to hit the target of a champagne bottle on the practice green – and a challenge it was with only 3 successful players.
As we handed in our scorecards. with great confidence or trepidation and sat back for a refreshing drink, Sally Meadows & Evan Campbell got to work doing the complex calculations of 1/24th of a combined handicap. Then came the presentations.

And this year’s winners…Winning 18 K Gold bottles = Andrea and Mark Colthart, Helen Crowley, Donna Kelly & Delia and Mark Giggins.
Congratulations Everyone!! The next event of this type will be midyear and called “ Roast Golf” so keep an eye out for further information closer to the time.
