Clubhouse Masterplan Survey

Lake Karrinyup Country Club’s strategic plan calls for the development of a clubhouse masterplan to act as a blueprint for potential changes to our clubhouse. The intent is to examine both current and anticipated future usage patterns for our clubhouse to ensure the facility continues to meet the needs of our members and extends the economic life of the building for another 20 years.

The Building Sub-Committee has been working on the development of this masterplan in conjunction with architects Christou Design. The design brief provided to our architects for the clubhouse masterplan draws heavily on feedback received from the focus group sessions held with members in 2013. The brief can be viewed by clicking here.

A number of options have been explored by our architects and after seeking input from our membership through the provision of information sessions and publishing schematic drawings for review, the Building Sub-Committee has recommended a concept master plan that incorporates the following key elements;

  • The creation of a new ‘Members’ Grill’ which expands and enhances the current temporary facility within the Half-Way House. This new facility will provide views to the golf course and meets a key element of the design brief- that being ‘creating a closer connection between the clubhouse and the golf course’. If this new facility is created then the existing Bistro will close.
  • Redesigning the bar in the Members’ Lounge to improve operating efficiency, increase wine storage capacity and create additional space around the fireplace area. New furniture would also be included as part of the upgrade of the Members’ Lounge.
  • Modifying the existing function/ main dining area to bring this area up to contemporary standards and enhance the functionality of the space. The concept masterplan contemplates the removal of part of the existing mezzanine floor and upgrading the external terrace area to the south.
  • The concept masterplan contemplates a ‘Wellness Area’ within the ‘informal’ section of the clubhouse in the vicinity of the pool. This is provided in response to feedback received from the focus group sessions. A clear theme emerging from these focus groups was a desire to expand the offering of our clubhouse to broaden its appeal to members, their partners and their children.
  • Creating a better definition between the section of the clubhouse that is for the use of members and their guests and the section of the clubhouse that can be used by third parties for functions such as external conferences or weddings.
  • Expanding the size and improving the functionality of the Pro Shop to ensure this area is consistent with the LKCC brand.
  • Providing the potential for the car parking capacity to be increased and to create ‘overflow’ parking when needed.

Please note that the components of the overall masterplan can be implemented in phases over time or, based upon the views of our members, some components may be implemented whilst other components may be discarded.

The objective of this survey is to gain feedback from as many members as possible on key components of the concept masterplan. In particular, we are seeking your input on how the proposed work may change the way you use the clubhouse and whether you support the concepts to enhance the quality and amenity of our clubhouse. As outlined in previous communications, a recommendation to actually implement any element of the concept clubhouse masterplan will be subject to the provision of more detailed information and a vote by our membership.

Your input is very much appreciated and valued.  The survey should take less than five minutes to complete and your anonymity is assured.
