Successful 2017 Karrinyup Cup

One of the biggest days on the Lake Karrinyup calendar took place on Saturday the 5th of August. The 2017 Karrinyup Cup and Club Dinner was once again well supported with 200 members competing over the morning and afternoon field and 154 members in attendance for dinner.

The Karrinyup Cup is one of the most sought after titles at Lake Karrinyup with all of the members teeing it up on the Saturday stroke competition desperate to have their name etched on this piece of club history. It is a notable condition of entry that the winner must be pre-booked and in attendance at the Club Dinner.

This year’s event produced an extremely popular winner in Joe O’Dea Jr who fired an excellent score of nett 65 to win the title one shot clear of Con Barron, David Butler & Danny Psaros all on a great score of Nett 66.  With 17 scores of 69 Nett or better it was an unbelievable performance by many to say the least. The Best Gross went to Alex Allcock, one of our victorious Division One Pennant players with 69 off the stick. The North Course event was won by Vic Nicoloff who had a score of Nett 68.

The day’s golf was followed by the annual Club Dinner. This is a black tie event which is one of the highlights of the year for members with the traditional entrance into the dinner one of the unique features of the night with the piper playing throughout the main bar and ultimately leading the crowd from the main bar into the dining room.

One of many highlights within the evening was the presentation of the Division One Pennant shield from Team Captain Nick Curnow to the club following the teams exciting victory only one week prior against Royal Perth Golf Club at Hartfield Country Club.

It is also a chance to acknowledge past winners of the Karrinyup Cup, Past Presidents of the Club and also those members who have reached the remarkable milestone of 50 years of membership with the club. This year three members joined this exclusive club, Mr Richard Baird, Mr Don Leunig & Mr Lloyd Chrystal we congratulate these Gentlemen on this fantastic achievement.
