Congratulations to Jenny Herbst and Georgia Garner-Dart who won the women’s Foursomes Amateur Championship of WA yesterday, 20th August.
The Lake Karrinyup teenagers had been level with Mt Lawley’s Alysha Ahnantakrishnan and Eve Cohen going up the final hole, but held their nerve to win.
A morning-round 76 had handed the pair a three-shot lead over the rest of the field but that advantage was gone midway through the back-nine thanks to Gosnells’ Sasha Hofman and Grace Cheetham in the group behind.
The duo were two-under for the round when they birdied the par-three 13th, to at that stage hold a one-shot lead, but a double bogey opened the door for a three-way battle down the 36th hole.
And in the end it was Herbst and Garner-Dart’s par that proved decisive, as their rivals both carded bogeys. Congratulations girls!
Congratulations also to Nick Curnow and Joseph Owen who finished Tied 2nd in the men’s.
