A big thank you to all of the members who supported our Legacy Day Raffle which was drawn at the party and presentations after golf on the 22nd April.
Following a morning of thunderstorms and lightning, 100 members and their guests braved the weather to enjoy a wonderful afternoon of golf. The format of the day was a 4BBB Stableford with a shogun start from 12:30pm. The rain came and went throughout the first couple of holes however that didn’t stop our winning pair, who put together an impressive 50 points! Joining us from Cottesloe Golf Club, Ric Hawley and Margot Blakeley were this years Legacy Day winners. Runners Up for the day were Gary and Lindsay Thomson with 48 points. Captain John Wallace was accompanied by Ladies’ Captain Lyn Meadows to present the perpetual Legacy Day Trophy to the days winners. Nearest the Pins were to Hannah Mitchell (5th), Scott Benson (8th), Vicki Krause (12th) and Tony O’Shea (17th).
The main bar presentations post-golf were attended by 115 members and guests and were greeted. President Con Barron and John Wallace welcomed the group and introduced Perth Legacy President Mr Peter Heeney who enlightened the crowd on the great work that Perth Legacy does. Renee from Perth Legacy assisted Peter in the drawing of the raffle and Ian McNee (Vice President Perth Legacy) drew the lucky door prizes. Our very own auctioneer James Silverhare Paxton did a magnificent job auctioning off the various items towards the end of the evening and these raised $6,100. A big thank you to James.
Almost all 2,000 raffle tickets were sold and along with the proceeds raised from the Auction items, we are pleased to advise that the Club managed to raise a total of $25,280 which will be donated directly to Perth Legacy. This is a record amount and we thank those of you who contributed towards this and also thank our very generous members who donated towards both the prizes and auction items.
The auction item results are as follows:
- $1,800 for the Governor’s Car Park
- $1,000 for the Collins Class Submarine Classified Access Tour (donated by Perth Legacy)
- $1,700 for the 2 night stay for 6 people at a Bunker Bay Beach House and a 6 pack of Stormflower Wine (donated by David Martin)
- $650 for 4 Yoga Sessions (with up to 20 people in each session) – (donated by Renee Benson @ Perth Legacy)
- $550 for a round of golf at Bukit Pandawa Executive Par 3 course in Bali plus premium golf club hire and return transfers from accommodation (donated by Brian Bowley)
- $400 for a 6 pack of Two Lovers Cabernet Sauvignon (donated by Colin & Gail Lovelady).
