2018 Blairgowrie Trophy

The annual Blairgowrie Jubilee Mixed Foursomes Championship took place on Sunday 16th September with 112 members taking their place in the field.  This event celebrates the unique reciprocal relationship between Blairgowrie Golf Club (located in Perthshire, Scotland) and LKCC.

Players were greeted on arrival by Harry the Piper as they enjoyed their morning coffee before heading out for golf.  The eventual winners on the day were Sam Gill and Peta Roberts with a Gross Score of 76. Sam and Peta won on a countback to 14 year old advanced juniors, Georgia Garner-Dart and Josh Hewton. The Handicap Nett Winners were also decided on a countback with Julie Cawthray and John Brennan winning with a Nett 64.5.  After the winners were announced a delicious luncheon was served in the Dining Room, which was dressed in plaid for the event.  Following lunch, Gary Thomson moved everyone to the lawn next to the Terrace where he explained the rules of the Wellie Throwing Competition!  Sheila Klimczyk had her work cut out for her as she volunteered for the role of returning the wayward throws. After a representative from each table had a chance to prove their technique and strength, the outright winner was Elliott Mitchell who out threw defending champion, John Brennan, by a solid 10 meters!

Thank you to Jess and her team, Chef Dean and his team in the kitchen and the Social Sub-Committee for organising another successful and enjoyable event at the club. It was great to see so many members enjoying this annual event once again.
