On Saturday 9th March the Lake Karrinyup Country Club season was opened with the annual Locksley Hall Trophy contested between a field of 62 Mixed pairings.
The eventual winners were Ian Campbell & Veronica Ntoumenopoulos on a great nett score of 71.25 just clear of runners up for a second year running Peter & Ann Manning on Nett 71.75.
Ian & Veronica playing off a handicap of 3.75 put an exceptionally consistent round of golf together shooting 75 off the stick which included 1 Birdie, 13 Pars & just 4 Bogeys.
For the first time, a Mixed North Course Opening Day Competition was introduced to the fixtures and although it was a small field, the winners of the day were Peter and Di Tomlin.
Following golf, presentations took place in the Main Bar and President Con Barron welcomed all of those present. Graham & Carol Warburton and Nicholas d’Avoine were invited along to attend and Con took great pleasure in recognising the 29 years of service that Graham has given to the Club and it’s membership and also the 13 years that Nick has been with us since joining the Buggy Room staff back in 2006. Both Graham and Nick were honoured and made a lovely thank you speech.
Con also announced at presentations, that the Club had won two awards the previous evening at the GolfWA Annual Awards Dinner. For more about these awards and photos, please see the home page of the website – click here.
