The 2019 Men’s Karrinyup Cup took place on Saturday 3rd August with 224 members taking their place in the field and an additional 21 on the North Course. The eventual winner was John Raitt on a countback with Nett 66. Alan Rule, winner of the B Grade Monthly Medal and Colin Simpson, winner of the C Grade Monthly Medal also finished with impressive Nett 66’s. Gordon Gow won the A Grade Monthly Medal with a Nett 69. Peter Patrikeos took out the North Course honours with a winning Nett 56.
The Club Dinner followed on from golf with 175 men dressed in Black Tie for the occasion. Member’s commenced the evening in the Main Bar before being led by the Piper into the Dining Room where the formalities commenced. Captain, Ralph Gibson called on Vice-President Graeme Pepper to say Grace as dinner commenced. Following entree’s, the loyal toast was proposed by Vice-Captain, Ken Hellsten.
Before Mains were served, Ralph Gibson recognized the achievements of the 2019 Pennant Premiership players before Pennant Captain Steve Moloney along with Team Captain, Nick Curnow, presented the Pennant Trophy to President Con Barron. Following mains, Con Barron welcomed attendees and proposed the Toast to Karrinyup. Past President’s in attendance were welcomed. Mr Stephen Seward, who reached his 50 years of service, was celebrated and presented with his 50 year tie. Barry Evans, who has also reached his 50 year milestone, was an apology for the event.
This was another great night for the male members of the club, sharing many stories and camaraderie amongst each other. Thank you to the staff involved who helped make this another successful event.
