The annual Mixed Championship & Handicap Foursomes for the Blairgowrie Trophy took place on Sunday 18th August with 82 members taking their place in the field. This event celebrates the unique reciprocal relationship between Blairgowrie Golf Club (located in Perthshire, Scotland) and LKCC.
It felt like a true Scottish morning with the sun shining and a warm 3 degrees. Players were greeted on arrival by Harry the Piper as they enjoyed their morning coffee before heading out for golf. The formidable father daughter team of Jon & Sheridan Clancy were the 2019 Championship Foursomes Winners with a gross score of 80. The Handicap Nett Winners were John Wallace & Jane Abbott on a count back to David & Charmayne Anderson with a nett score of 72. Before the winners were announced a delicious luncheon was served in the Dining Room, which was dressed in tartan for the event. Following lunch and presentations, Ralph Gibson invited all in attendance to move to the Dining Room terrace for the annual Wellie Throwing Competition! Lead by Gary Thomson, a representative from each table had a chance to prove their technique and strength, with each competitor giving it their best effort, no one really came close to the almighty throw by Jen Rewell.
Thank you to Jess and her team, Chef Dean and his team in the kitchen and the Social Sub-Committee for organising another successful and enjoyable event at the club. It was a great day as we celebrated this important event within our golfing season.
