230 members and their guests enjoyed a fabulous day at the Club on Melbourne Cup Day.
The day commenced with a drink and canapes on arrival in the “birdcage” and everyone enjoyed the race at midday with some happy punters collecting some prizes on the sweeps that were sold in the lead up to the race.
Chef Dean and his team served up a fabulous 3 course meal and Romana and her wonderful team were kept busy all day serving up the food & beverages to the full house. President Con Barron announced the prizes for the day. Congratulations to Fiona Wildy for the “best fascinator” (which was hand-made) topping off her day which was also her birthday!!! The “best tie” award actually went to the “smartest dresser” who was a guest Ben Clardson. Also a guest, Janie Golovoda won the “Ms Melbourne Cup” in a lovely black & white dress and hat and Tristan Kirkhan was the winner of the day for “Mr Melbourne Cup” looking very dapper in his 3 piece cream suit. Russell Ellen came a very close second in his black & white outfit and Mr Brian Marchant was pleased to be the recipient of the lucky door prize.
A great day was had by all with a lot of members and their guests soaking up the sunshine in the courtyard after lunch. A big thank you to Executive Chef Dean and his team, Romana, Jess and all of the F&B team, our hard-working maintenance team in Ben and Rod for the indoor/outdoor setup, Damon and his admin team and Mary Ann Larsen, Sally Meadows and the Social Committee for all of the decorating.
