Men’s Pennant Commences

Division 1 – Sunday 28 March

After a loss to WA Golf Club last week, the team was ready to get their season back on track at the Mandurah Country Club, against the strong Royal Fremantle.

Fabio Trichilo, in his debut season, unfortunately went down in the first match of the day to an opponent that was having the round of his life. Nick Curnow, also went down in his typical fighting spirit, along with Mathew Bowra who unfortunately just couldn’t get the job done on the day. Simon Liddell chalked up an early win, in the number two position, with a resounding 5&4 win over his opponent, with Joe Owen playing very solidly all day to finish his match with a 3&2 win. Fraser Bone’s match went to the 18th hole where Fraser sunk a very clutch putt to close out the match. This turned all the attention to Todd Gault’s match with both sides on three wins each. Todd had also sunk a very good 10 foot downhill slider on the 18th to keep the match going. With both birdie putts on the first playoff hole narrowly missing the pair went to the 20th hole of the day.

Todd remaining solid, as he had all day, won the second playoff hole and granting Karrinyup a 4-3 win over Royal Fremantle.
