For the past three months an enthusiastic group of members, under the expert guidance of Archivist, Dr. Pauline Joseph, has started sorting through the valuable memorabilia and archival collections of LKCC.
When possible, we meet in the committee room which gives us access to the Archives Room where everything has been stored for the past 40+ years. We usually start each 3-hour hands-on workshop session with collections management seminars from Pauline about conducting significance assessment of the collections, developing LKCC’s classification scheme for cataloguing the collection, developing collection management and donor policies, etc.
These briefings are followed with our volunteers working (sorting, organising, describing, taking photos, etc.) with their assigned collections which could be documentary archives, trophies, framed items, score cards, menus, books, photographs, golf clubs and balls.
Where required, tailor made enclosures are sewn to protect the physical objects and protect it from dust. Finally, these processed collections are registered into LKCC’s collections management database. Some of this work is performed onsite at LKCC whilst others are continued at home. There is much work to be done as we look forward to the 100th anniversary celebrations of the club in 2028.
We are a happy and busy group of LKCC members working on ensuring LKCC’s history and heritage is organised and discoverable to tell its many interesting stories.
