Congratulations to the Blairgowrie Trophy Winners

The Blairgowrie Trophy for 2021 was played on Sunday 3 October 2021.

This event celebrates the unique reciprocal relationship Lake Karrinyup Country Club has with the Blairgowrie Golf Club. Blairgowrie Golf Club is located at Rosemount in Perthshire, approximately 14 miles from Perth in Scotland. We became reciprocal with them in 1986 and we are the only club they have reciprocity with in the world. In 1989 Blairgowrie celebrated their Centenary and invited members from Karrinyup to join in the celebrations. A total of 48 Members and Associates travelled to Perthshire and were feted in true Scottish tradition. A spectacular decanter was presented to LKCC at the Centenary celebrations, and it was decided that the decanter would be used as a trophy for the Mixed Championship and Handicap Foursomes.

A total of 60 pairs took part in this years Blairgowrie Trophy and we congratulate our Championship winners Jodie Benney and Matthew Bowra, as well as our Handicap winners Mark Leahy and Alison Leahy. Jodie Benney and Mathew Bowra combined for a 78 off the stick, to win on a countback from Tracey Silbert and Fabio Trichilo. Meanwhile Alison Leahy and Mark Leahy had the best nett for day with a great score of 68.5. Both the Championship and Handicap winners are engraved on the trophy each year.

Following lunch, the traditional “wellie throwing” competition took place outside the dining room in the glorious sunshine.  At the time of writing, I am not aware of who won, but the photos certainly look like a lot of members enjoyed the competition!

Well done to all winners and thank you to all members who took part in this years event.
