The “Dixie Clement Putter” competition is held between our two great clubs, with the first Match being held in July 1936 at the Royal Perth Golf Club. Apart from the war years, this Match has continued annually with the honours usually going to the host club. Prior to this year’s event, Lake Karrinyup had won 41 times, Royal Perth 36 and it has been a draw twice.
This year’s competition saw 32 pairs from each club battle around the narrow Royal Perth Golf Club playing a 4BBB-PAR format. There was some great scoring by the LKCC members, to highlight a couple, Richard Pawluk/John Hopkins and David Lewis/Leslie Yin lead the way for Karrinyup with +10.
The eventual overall result was a draw, 16 – 16, only the third time in history the Dixie Clement has been shared. Lake Karrinyup being the reigning champions take the trophy home again for 2021. Phil Grice said “A draw away from home is a win in the eyes of Lake Karrinyup”
Thanks again to all the members that took part in this historical event and we look forward to hosting in 2022.
