Lake Karrinyup helps Fire Fighters

Lake Karrinyup Country Club was once again able to play it’s part in helping fire fighters bring the recent nearby bush fire under control. As you are aware the bush land to the south of Karrinyup Road caught fire last week and many residents (including some members) in the Trigg area were evacuated from the homes. The fire was so fierce that eight fire tenders were needed to contain the flames. As well as these tenders the helicopter water bombers were  called to action. While the large helitanker sucked up water from the ocean, the other three helicopters filled their tanks from the water in the lake on the eighth.

General Manager, Damon Lonnie was contacted by the fire fighting services and permission was sought and granted to use our water. This is not the first time. Members may remember our help was sought a couple of years ago when a bush fire broke out in bush land at the back of Clement Drive. Lake Karrinyup is once again proud to be able to assist the agencies in their commendable tasks.
