Men’s President’s Trophy

The Men’s President’s Trophy in honour of President Ralph Gibson, was held on Saturday, 6th June 2024, and one of the most prestigious events of the year.

Despite the scoring being tough, 17 of the 199 players shone through playing better than their handicap, with one in particular standing out from the crowd with a spectacular +8 to par.  Phil George had an “uncharacteristic to current form round” and took home a picturesque President’s Trophy, a stunning aerial shot of the 8th hole.

Phil was never in doubt of being chased down by Captain Stephen Moloney on +5, or T3 players Peter Coningsby and Nick Curnow who shot an impressive 69 off the stick to take home best Gross on the day.

After being wonderfully introduced by Captain Stephen Moloney for his many contributions to the Club over his near 50 years of membership, playing partner David Anderson proposed a very fitting toast to Ralph, acknowledging Ralph’s fine accomplishments during his tenure thus far.

50 years of membership is a milestone not many Members are fortunate enough to achieve and it is only fitting for our President to be nearing this milestone.

Congratulations to Phil for winning the President’s Trophy for 2024 and a big thank you to Ralph Gibson and the other Past President’s of the Club.
