The Chalice Pairs is highly regarded as one of the most popular competitions of the year and a celebration of Men’s Opening Day which was first held in 1984. The inaugural winners of the event being Paul Annand and John Gillard.
The Men’s Opening Day for 2025 was held on Saturday, 15th March with 256 male members (128 pairs) playing the 4BBB Par format on the Main Course and 60 members (30 pairs) on the North Course celebrating the North Course Opening Day.
Mick Malone and Paul Simpson were the eventual, and very popular winners of this prestigious event, winning by 2 strokes with an unbelievable score of +13, comprising of a 10+ streak to start their round! Congratulations Mick & Paul!

Runners up on a score of +11 were Bruce Scott and Craig Wynne, who many thought had done enough in the morning field to secure the win.
For the North Course, with a great score of +9 on countback were Brad Moore and Paul Wittber, securing the NC Opening Day trophy for 2025.

Ben Robertson was a special mention on the North Course, winning all three Nearest the Pins on offer!!
A wonderful day full of camaraderie, tradition and fellowship was enjoyed by a 316 Gentlemen. Well done to everyone who took part in the first Major Men’s event of 2025!
