On Sunday, 18th May, Lake Karrinyup hosted a large contingent Royal Perth juniors for the annual Bill Plowman trophy. Bill was a member of both LKCC and RPGC for over 50 years, during which time he was instrumental in growing and developing the junior program at both clubs. To honour and celebrate his contribution, the Bill Plowman Trophy is contested each year.
The event is played as a 4BBB Par, with 9 pairs of juniors from each club competing for valuable points for their club. This year saw LKCC take back the trophy with a resounding 6.5 to 2.5 victory, as well as some brilliant team scores led by Ty Patterson and Michael Wyper at 11 up!
A special mention also goes out to the young seven-year-old Theo Reeves, who came up from Bunbury to play his first 18-hole round of golf and help secure one of RPGC’s two wins.
It was a magnificent morning for golf, with strong representation from both clubs and great camaraderie shown throughout the day. A hearty lunch and presentations on the balcony overlooking the course finished off the day nicely. Well done to all who competed, and thank you to both clubs and all the volunteers who made the day such a success.
