What a fantastic day we had on Thursday 12th June 2025! It was particularly special as we celebrated 90 years since LKCC first held a Women’s Charity Day in support of selected children’s charities, with the principal recipient always being Parkerville Children and Youth.
Once again, we were blessed with lovely weather, ideal conditions for playing golf as well as for browsing the various stalls in the courtyard and enjoying a delicious morning tea. The day was attended by 178 women playing golf, 108 women for Bridge and a further 94 people joining us for morning tea.
The courtyard looked bright and colourful, filled with tempting treats, and morning tea offered a wide selection of goodies. The golf courses were in magnificent condition, providing challenges for visitors to the Club. Bridge players had a slightly earlier start this year which proved successful in alleviating congestion in the Grill for morning tea.
We have received many compliments from those in attendance about the ‘buzz’ around the Club. Morning tea was a highlight, and lunch was appreciated by everyone – tasty and just the right portion size, accompanied by a complimentary glass of wine.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in this event. An army of volunteers from among Club Members (women and men) is necessary for the smooth running and success of the day – months of planning, cooking, baking, sewing and knitting as well as clearing out cupboards of items for lucky dip, wine and jewellery certainly paid off.
The contribution of all LKCC staff is invaluable in the organisation of the many moving parts – from administration, food and beverage, golf operations and on course. The Club is extremely generous in providing the courses and, in fact, the entire facility for the day.
Hole sponsorship plays a large part in the amount of funds raised – thank you to all members who provided sponsorship – the colourful flags and banners on course added to the happy atmosphere of the day.
Final figures will not be available for a few weeks, but a rough estimate is that we have raised approximately $78,000 ($87,000 raised but expenses still need to be deducted). We will publish the results as soon as possible – as usual charities will be presented with our donations later in the year.
Looking forward to 2026!
