2025 THE GOOD FELLOWSHIP MATCH PLAYING FOR THE JUSTIN SEWARD TROPHY

On Sunday the 16th of November, 49 well respected Lake Karrinyup Members played a friendly 4BBB match against 49 rivals from Cottesloe Golf Club in the annual visit between the two clubs. There is a long-standing tradition between Lake Karrinyup and Cottesloe, with the annual visit between the two clubs dating back to 1938.
The day started off with a magnificent meal in the club house and a friendly welcome from the President Phil Grice and Captain Garry Kurtz. The format of the day was the traditional Four-ball Par, the pair who finished with the highest score was to be declared the winner of each individual match, winning a point for their club.
This year also marked the renaming of the trophy to the Justin Seward Trophy, as a homage to his great contribution at both clubs. LKCC Toastmaster John Hopkins regaled the field with Justin’s accomplishments and contribution at lunch.

The conditions throughout the day made could not have been better, which showed in the scoring across both teams. Lake Karrinyup’s Brett Grover & Andrew Durkin had the best score of the day with +9. Nathan Gavin & George Pampacos providing the best Cottesloe score of +8 (a great score, but unfortunately up against Brett & Andrew!).

Presentations were held in the clubhouse and were well attended by the participants. The club toastmasters did a fantastic job in illustrating the friendly rivalry and friendships which are held between the two clubs. Many thanks must go to John Hopkins & CGC Toastmaster Simon Winter who did a fantastic job at entertaining those in attendance.

The result of the day was a 21 ½ to 5 ½ victory to see Lake Karrinyup successfully re-claim the trophy after losing to Cottesloe in 2024. Cottesloe Captain Graeme Finlayson had the privilege of presenting a very proud Garry Kurtz with the ‘Good Fellowship Mug’ which will rest with Lake Karrinyup for another year. This marks Garry’s first interclub win as Club Captain!

The overall tally is separated by just 1 win now, Cottesloe (34) & Lake Karrinyup (33).

Well done to the formidable LKCC team who helped deliver another win to our great club for this edition of the Good Fellowship Match – playing for the Justin Seward Trophy.
