Rocky road trip for pennant sides

The traditionally rocky road away from Lake Karrinyup surfaced again in round 2 with all sides losing their first away game for the year.

Division 2 travelled north to Wanneroo and got pipped on the line to go down by the narrowest of margins 5-4. Brendan Milburn was a comfortable 5/4 win. Nick Vogel and Jules Harris both won 2up with Nick Curnow winning on the 19th. Mike Rundus was unlucky losing a marathon match on the 21st hole. Another away trip awaits the side in round 3, this time at Mount Lawley.

The Juniors also had a narrow defeat at the hands of Wanneroo, losing 4-3. Ethan Andrews (3/2) and Joe Owen (5/4) were again victorious at the top of the order while Azer Pehlic also had a strong 4/3 win.

In the other divisions, Lakelands were successful over both our Division 5 and Division 7 sides with the result being 5-2 in both matches.  For division 5 Captain Mitch Bristow lead from the front with a 4/3 win and Daniel Howe also recorded a comfortable 6/4 victory. Most of the games were tight with matches being lost on the 17th or 18th holes.

Division 7 had to give away a combined 25 shots to their opposition and this proved to be too difficult an obstacle to overcome. Greg Baker and Nick Croston were the winners both recording a 1up victory.

The Division 8 took a while to get going in the near arctic morning temperature at the Vines with the home side winning 5 ½ – 1 ½. Steve Temple made it two wins from two starts with a 2/1 victory while Stu Phillips halved his match.

Round 3 sees a split of home and away matches with Division 2 and juniors at Mt Lawley while Divisions 5,7 & 8 are at home from 11.30am. A reminder to all members that the course will be closed from 11am on Sunday.

Best of luck to all sides.
