Following on from the mixed and associate opening days the Men’s Opening Day was held on Saturday the 14th of March. The ‘Chalice Pairs’ event is a fourball par event which started in 1984 with the inaugural winners of the event being Paul Annand and John Gillard.
The 2015 instalment attracted 26 members who were competing for the silver goblets which were donated by Alex Monteath to use for perpetual trophies for the event.
Luckily the heavy downpours that were predicted never eventuated and the whole days play was completed. There were some excellent scores posted throughout the day with the event being won by Peter Kermode and Travis Taylor who combined beautifully for a total score of +12. Congratulations to both players and all those who competed on the day.
